The reason a scramjet company belongs in a launcher roster at all. An air-breathing first stage would carry a rocket upper stage to roughly Mach 12 before it lit, from a conventional runway rather than a pad, with 150–300 kg to low Earth orbit. It is a design study: no hardware, no date, and the whole architecture rests on scramjets several generations beyond the one that has flown once.
